TP610 is a soft and flexible open cell polyurethane foam, impregnated with an acrylic based, UV stabilised resin. The resin is water repellent and contains a fire retardant. It is supplied as pre-compressed rolls with a self-adhesive side to aid initial location. Weather tight, it satisfies most expectations as an external weather seal in building and civil engineering applications.
TP610 is used in a wide variety of movement joints including window perimeter seals and facade dilatation joints.
General installation instructions:
After measuring the width of the joint and ensuring the total movement is within the capacity of the selected tape size, application may proceed. Remove outer release liner. Cut the first 2 cm at the start of the roll. Unroll the tape carefully without stretching it.
Installation in construction joints:
If installing tape into a construction joint, it must be applied from bottom to top to avoid stretching of the tape. Ensure the tape is recessed by a minimum of 2 mm into the joint.
Wedge should be used to hold the tape in position until it is expanded. At the end of a roll, cut off the tape wedge finish. Repeat the process with a new roll, making a close compressed butt connection as shown in (Fig. 2). For crossing joints (Fig 1.) cut the TP610 at 90° and ensure that the two horizontal ends marry perfectly the vertical joint.
Installation in windows joints:
The tape can be applied with the adhesive side to the frame, horizontal seals must be applied before the vertical ones (Fig. 3). Do not rotate the tape around the corners, cut it and joint it together, making a compressed butt connection as shown in (Fig. 4). In case of bonding the tape directly to a damp or dusty wall, an adhesive test must be performed, if needed use a primer.
The compatibility of sealants, must be tested.
The tape must not come into contact with chemicals containing solvents or corrosive substances.
High temperatures accelerate tape expansion, while low temperature delay this.
If the installation temperature is low, store the rolls at room temperature minimum 6 hours before the installation.
During processing, it must be excluded that the sealing tape in the partially expanded state is exposed to rainfall and subsequently compressed forming the joint
